Map rule for Season 3

What's everyone feel about requiring that if they play a team a second time it must be on a different map?

I guess if you wanna be a baby you can still get 12 games on just Carny by only playing each team once but that should at least get some more games on things besides carny recorded to be casted right?

This definitely should not be a rule... This is all preference, if two teams agree to play parish twice let them.

Excatly, if both teams agree; sure.
But it's not only time consuming, but unnecessary.

I don't care what the ruling ends up being.. just tired of casting the same map over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

Maybe for the tournaments you guys can set a map for each round? That way Dark Carnival only gets played for 1 round and you can get some other casts in. Plus I feel like there's going to be a lot of games being played on the l4d1 maps.

yeah, I know we had thought of that before, and actually having a "schedule" for people to follow.. the issue is that we can't rely on everyone getting their games in within that timeframe (for example, how long did it take for the finals to take place last season!?)...


One thing I did just think of is have each week a different map that would count towards the tournament.. you can play as many matches as you want that week, but only the games played on that map will count towards your tournament ranking/score... I'll talk with the guys about this and see what they think..

A problem with making teams play a specific map is how do you know they actually played the match on that map. If say you make the map Dead Center and both teams are in the lobby, there is nothing stopping both teams just agreeing to play Dark Carnival and say they played Dead Center and no one would know any different unless it was recorded for casting.

that's a good point.. my hope is that the community is mature enough not to lie about what map they played (i mean, come on.. that's what you choose to lie about?)... but this is the L4D xbox community, so it's something we'll have to think about

Here's the way it goes.

For the tournament. Maps will be chosen for each round. And the Grand Finals will probs be Carny.

For the league, you will be required to play your second game on a separate map. If you decide to play Carny a second time, and someone disputes, when I see the game is played on carny. I'll simply count the game no contest and you won't be allowed to play that team again until next season.

And if you hand us a game to cast. Or I find a game in your stream proving you played a team twice on Carny, again the win will be removed.

It's silly that all we play is Carnival.

Until I can find a legitimate way to randomly generate a map for each team each round that's the way it's going to need to be.

The finals took so long to to take place because the other team had to practice for a week and when they were finally ready to play I was at Nationals for a week. So set a basic 3-4 day schedule and all games played within those days be on a certain map. This is very easy to stop teams from playing the same map over and over and shouldn't even be a problem with proper thinking.

I would love to set a few days (maybe a full week) for each map, and that would be it.. I suggested that a long time ago, but it didn't seem to get much traction from everyone else so I let it go

It's not actually too bad an idea, but it's a bit late to enact this now. We'll look into it for season 4.
